Message from Borough of Ambridge



AMBRIDGE, PA - A truck recently struck the main water line that is attached to the Ambridge - Aliquippa Bridge that is suspended over Route 65 in the Borough of Ambridge. It has caused damage to the structure that supports this high-pressure water line. As a safety precaution, based on consulting the Ambridge Water Authority, PENNDOT will close Route 65, northbound only, within the next couple of hours (estimated at 7PM) until repairs can be made to this support structure. Closure is expected to last through tomorrow, Wednesday, May 10th.

The closure will start at 8th Street (AKA Route 989) and will reopen at Logan Lane on Route 65, northbound.

Detour will be posted for all northbound traffic on Route 65 to exit via 8th Street, follow Route 989 - 8th Street to Duss Avenue - Duss Avenue through Harmony Township to Logan Lane in Baden Borough to get back on Route 65 northbound.

Traffic on the Ambridge - Aliquippa Bridge is to remain open.

Heavy traffic is expected in the detour area, we ask for your patience and cooperation.

RiverTown Antiques has been in business for eight years in Rochester but owner Ann Sutherland  was looking for a change. 

"I believe that antiques and vintage shops are a natural fit for the Ambridge Historic District" said   Sutherland.

Sutherland purchased the bowling alley in Ambridge on Merchant Street, which is located in the Historic District of the community.

On Thursday, May 4th Ambridge Rotary Club will be at State Street Elementary to pick up the shoes collected by the new service community club, EarlyAct. The Shoes collected will be donated to the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh's Project Shoes for Nicaragua.

Rollin' With Rotary, a group professionals who are active members of Rotary, will be stopping in Ambridge and Baden during their 9 states tour highlight Rotary #PeopleofAction.

The group will then head over to the 11th street basketball courts for the dedication of the new lights donated by the Ambridge Rotary Club. The community is invited to join them from 2:30 to 3:30. Ambridge Rotary Club will be giving away 95 funnel cakes to celebrate the club' s 95 years of providing Service above Self in the Ambridge Area (this portion of the event will be postponed if there is heavy rain.)

Ambridge Historic District Economic Development Committee and Old Economy Village  will join the county in the Beaver County History Weekend.

Throughout Beaver County there will  be many historical venues that are having free entry, specials and more as a coordinated effort for the county.        In Ambridge  the Ambridge Historic District Economic Development Committee created Spring Fest. 

"There is something for the whole family to enjoy from music to art exhibitions to shopping at pop-ups and sidewalk sales" shared Connie Kovolenko, Ambridge Historic District Economic Development Committee Co- Chair and owner of Akulina’s Antiques .   

Visitors are encouraged to visit the Old Economy Village Garden Mart, stroll the brick-lined sidewalks and visit the local antique shops, art,  train displays.

​More than 200 volunteers from Baden Academy Charter School, Duquesne Light Co., and organizers from KaBOOM! as well as the community, joined forces on Friday, April 28, to give area kids a new playground at Baden Academy. 

​The design is based on children’s drawings created at a special event in March.
