The A.B.E. Baseball 8U youth league defeated the Brighton Township 8U team in the new league called "The Valley League" for the championship title that was held in Economy on Thursday.
"This league proved to have its heaviest competition ABE has seen in awhile. As our other age groups made it to the second round of playoffs, this 8U team has succeeded and claimed the championship," shared League president Shawn Gerace.
Coach Jeff Modrovich gave a recap to the game:
Going into last night's championship games, Brighton Township needed to win only one game and ABE needed to beat them twice.
ABE was the visiting team and jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first. Brighton Township answered with 3 in the bottom of the first. ABE managed to extend the lead throughout the game and the game ended ABE 10-7.
Game two started a little slower. After 2 innings, ABE trailed 1-0. In the top of the 3rd, ABE took the lead 4-1 and never looked back. Game two final score ABE 7-BR TWP-1 .
" I can not be more proud of this group and their accomplishment. They did it! The Valley League 8U Champs! Congratulations to this group of kids and their coaches," Gerace said.
