The Economy Volunteer Fire Department can now say the majority of its active members are trained in vehicle rescue.
About 50 active members participated in the 48-hour Vehicle Rescue class over the weekend.
Economy Fire Capt. Steven Joy said 19 firefighters and two junior firefighters completed the class, bringing the department to 43 out of 46 active members that have the training. Several other members were previously trained, he said.
"I would personally like to thank all the older members that came out and took this class and supporting the younger generation," Joy said.
