During the Ball, organizers announced the recipients of several awards, medals and certificates.

The American Legion Award for Military Excellenceis presented to a cadet whose grades in all JROTC subjects is within the top 25% and has demonstrated good qualities in military leadership, discipline, character and citizenship. This year’s recipient is Cadet Staff Sergeant Nathan Erickson
AMERICAN VETERANS JROTC BRONZE MEDAL – The American Veteran’s Bronze Medal is presented to a cadet who demonstrates outstanding volunteerism and patriotism. The 2016 recipient of this award is Cadet Private First Class Ryan Benes
DAEDALIAN JROTC ACHIEVEMENT MEDAL – The Daedalian Medal is presented to a cadet who demonstrates all around excellence. The cadet must have patriotism, potential, and a desire to excel. The year’s recipients are Cadet Sergeant Dylan Irvin, Cadet Sergeant Julia Parison and Cadet Corporal Morgan Isles
DAUGHTERS of the AMERICAN REVOLUTION BRONZE MEDAL – The daughters of the American Revolution JROTC Bronze Medal is given to a cadet who is in the upper 25% of the class in JROTC and who has demonstrated qualities of dependability, good character, military discipline, and an understanding of the importance of the JROTC program. This year’s recipient is Cadet Lance Corporal Autumn Brickner
DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS – The Disabled American Veterans award is presented to a third year cadet who has demonstrated leadership and set a positive example for others to emulate by participating in community related events and by devoting numerous hours to the program in order to achieve success. This year’s recipient is Cadet Gunnery Sergeant Ethan Young
MARINE CORPS LEAGUE AWARD – The Marine Corps League award is presented to two cadets who have demonstrated excellent leadership and applies the Marine Corps’ tenant of “Taking Care of Your Own.” The year’s recipients are Cadet Sergeant Charles Beisgen and Cadet Sergeant Thomas Shelton
MILITARY OFFICER’S ASSOCIATION of AMERICA – The MOAA medal is presented to a cadet who demonstrates outstanding potential for military leadership. The year’s recipient is Cadet Private First Class Chad Fitlin
MILITARY ORDER of the PURPLE HEART – This award is presented to a cadet who has demonstrated superb dedication and leadership. This year’s recipient is Cadet Gunnery Sergeant Ethan Young.
MILITARY ORDER of WORLD WARS – This award is presented to an outstanding first-year cadet who excels in both military and scholastic activities. He/she is in good standing in JROTC and has made a commitment to remain in the program. This year’s recipient is Cadet Private First Class Jordan Dixon
NATIONAL SOJOURNERS MEDAL – The National Sojourners Medal is presented annually to a cadet who is committed to the success of the JROTC program. He/She is actively involved in the community and demonstrates Americanism by deed, conduct or both. This year’s recipient is Cadet Sergeant Logan Erickson.
THE NAVY LEAGUE YOUTH MEDAL – This award is presented to a cadet who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, discipline, character and bearing. This year’s recipient is: Cadet CPL Eric Smith
NONCOMMISIONED OFFICERS ASSOCIATION JROTC BRONZE MEDAL – The Noncommissioned Officers Association Medal is presented annually to an outstanding cadet who has demonstrated dedication, military bearing, deportment and leadership ability. This year’s recipients are Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Elias Shingelton and Cadet Corporal Devonte Spears-Banks.
RESERVE OFFICER’S ASSOCIATION – The Reserve Officer’s Association award is presented to a Cadet who has demonstrated patriotism, devoted his/her time to volunteer within the community and he/she is one who possesses a positive mental attitude. This year’s recipient is Cadet Lance Corporal Niya Ridout
SCOTTISH RITE OF FREEMASONRY AWARD – This award is presented to a cadet who has demonstrated a potential for outstanding leadership by exhibiting qualities of dependability, good character, self-discipline, good citizenship, and patriotism. The year’s recipient is Cadet Sergeant Charles Beisgen
Sons of the AMERICAN REVOLUTION JROTC Bronze Medal – The Sons of the American Revolution JROTC Bronze Medal is presented to a Junior cadet who has exhibited the highest qualities of leadership, military bearing, and excellence. This year’s recipient is Cadet Sergeant Dylan Irvin.
VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS JROTC BRONZE MEDAL – The Rochester VFW will be presenting 3 awards this evening. The Veterans of Foreign Wars JROTC Bronze Medal is presented to: Those Cadets who possess individual characteristics contributing to leadership both in and out of uniform.

VIETNAM VETERANS of AMERICA AWARD – The Vietnam Veterans of America Achievement award is presented to a cadet who has excelled in the program and positively affected others as a leader. This year’s recipient is Cadet Lance Corporal Dante King
WOMEN MARINE’S ASSOCIATION- This award is presented to a graduating female Cadet who has demonstrated academic achievement in JROTC leadership. This year’s recipient is Cadet Major Lauryn Powell.
OUTSTANDING CADET AWARD – The outstanding cadet award is presented to the student who has portrayed the characteristics of leadership and devoted numerous hours supporting the JROTC program and the community. The 2018 Honor Graduate is: Cadet Sergeant Logan Erickson. He will receive a Letter of Appreciation and a Plaque for his efforts from the Marine Corps Association.
