The state Department of Human Services announced on Monday that funding for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits for February will be paid on Friday and available for use on Saturday. After that, funding for this program upon which 1.8 million Pennsylvanians depend for food assistance remains up in the air.
A federal grand jury handed up an eight-count indictment under seal on Jan. 8 and the case was unsealed Friday.
Details are sparse, but the grand jury said the 27 conspired to deal narcotics from January 2017 to this month.

Several crews are on the scene of a residential structure fire on Maplewood Avenue in Ambridge. Heavy smoke was coming out of the house earlier, but as of moments ago the situation appears to be under control.

The Ambridge Water Authority is “evaluating its options” after the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection on Thursday approved two permits needed by Shell Pipeline to construct the Falcon ethane pipeline.
