The 13th annual "Mr. Ambridge Pageant" was staged at the high school auditorium this evening. The tongue-in-cheek talent competition was a senior project presented by Adalyn Kowal, raising more than $1,600 for the Gladney Family Association, a charity that promotes adoptions. Junior George Kontoulis was named Mr. Ambridge, with fellow classmate Ante Cvitkovic being named first runner up and Mr. Congeniality. Other participants included seniors Timothy Bruce and Quintin Dewitt, and juniors Anthony DeMarco, Tommy Holcomb, Ryan Mikush, Josh Peters and Corey Shaffer. The Bridgers (8-2) are No. 10 this week while New Castle is No. 5. read full story at Pittsburgh Post Gazette Public Meeting: Ambridge School District To Present Idea of Jr High Becoming A Middle School1/8/2018 The Ambridge Area School District is exploring the concept of creating a middle school for sixth, seventh and eighth graders in the District. Superintendent Dr. Jo Welter will be presenting the idea to parents at each of the three elementary schools and gathering input from those in attendance.
In a press release to Ambridge Connection, the district shared it is important to note that the middle school concept is still in the development stages; gathering input from the community is a crucial stage in development and the opportunity to dialogue with parents is greatly appreciated. Informational sessions will occur on the following dates and times: • State Street Elementary School – 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 (Cafeteria) • Economy Elementary School – 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 (Music Room) • Highland Elementary School – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 (Cafeteria) Parents are permitted to attend any of the three sessions in accordance to what works best with their schedules. Tentative Intermittent Closures / Restrictions of Ambridge - Aliquippa Bridge is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9th, between the hours of 8 AM and 6 PM for repairs to the Ambridge Water Authority pipeline. Ambridge Police will be on location during these hours to assist with traffic.
