David Sabol owner of David's Barbershop moved his business from 5th Street to the Historic District in Ambridge in October 2017. "Much more space, more parking available, and visibility shared Sabol about the new location.

He is now expanding the services offered by teaming up with Lorie Mesko Jeskey to offer a full-service salon. "We cover every single aspect of the hair business" shared Sabol.

Come down to Old Economy Village and join your friends in Bringing History Alive with these two great upcoming events!

First, we have Hands-on History, May 5&6. This event brings history to life for visitors of all ages. Come try your hand at a variety of nineteenth century crafts, trades and games.

After that, we have our annual Garden Mart on May 12. Old Economy Village will be selling heirloom varieties of plants raised in its greenhouse as part of the 7th Annual Garden Mart. Other vendors will also be available to sell plants and garden-related items.

Sprint time is here, time to get outside and have some fun locally. If we missed listing your event please submit here.

1. Big Dog 5k Walk and Run, a senior project of Bethany Hartman and Hale Rogers, to honor Tim "Big Dog" Rakovan and other affected by Huntington's Disease.
Where: Old Economy Village
When: April 28, registration 8 am , Run 9 am , Walk 10 am
Cost: $15

2. Rain or Shine Fun Day with Western PA Soap Box Derby for those who are interested in racing will have a hands-on opportunity to learn on Saturday in Ambridge. Riders will get a chance to ride a real soap box derby car and gather information about th up coming local race on June 9th.
Where: 14th Street at Duss Avenue in Ambridge
When: April 28, 9 am to 2 pm
Cost: Free to kids 7 to 17, $5 for adults

Mahki Robinson, a senior at Ambridge High School, took first place against 28 teams in the long jump at the 2018 MAC Invitational. Robinson's first time trying the long jump was just a week earlier and shared that "It was something I just tried."

Robinson placed first at MACs with a jump of 22-04.75 just shy of breaking Dantae Ranieri of Hopewell 2017 record of 22 -10.50.

Councilwoman Janet Caldarelli, chair of the Borough’s Code Enforcement Committee, announced at the regularly scheduled meeting of Borough Council on April 10th that the Borough of Ambridge has been awarded the 2018 Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence in the Fiscal Accountability and Best Management Practices category for Ambridge’s efforts to create and implement its new Fire Department staffed Code Enforcement Program.
