Snow Removal in Ambridge: Roads,  Sidewalks, Driveways

1/23/2018

Comments

Ambridge Borough Released the following  :

With the chance of snow in the forecast, we’d like to share some information about snow removal in the Borough-

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT SNOW REMOVAL WITHIN AMBRIDGE

• The Public Works Department is on call 24 hours a day for snow and ice removal of over 30 miles of roadway within the Borough. That equals over 60 lane miles of roadway that needs to be plowed and treated during winter weather occurrences. The Borough uses on average over 800 tons of salt per year to treat our roads and operates with four snowplow trucks. Call outs for Public Works to clear snow from the streets in the evening and night hours is made by the Ambridge Police who are out on patrol.

• During severe snow situations where plowing is needed, the main Borough roads have priority, which in some cases requires residential roadways and alleys to be designated as secondary. Priority roadways include the hilly areas of the Borough and the main thoroughfares. Alleys are typically cleared and treated last.

• Ambridge DPW does not plow State Routes 65 and 989 (8th St. (between Rt. 65 and Duss), Duss Ave. (between 8th and 24th St.) and 24th St.); they are owned and maintained by PENNDOT. The Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge and the Laughlin Bridge into the Port are owned and maintained by Beaver County Public Works.

• Ambridge DPW operates with four salt trucks, staffed by four employees, a typical snow storm has three trucks out at a time, and the fourth truck is activated for severe storms. The Borough’s Salt Shed and DPW Stockyard is located on 11th Street next to the Borough Building.

• It is unlawful to shovel or plow snow back into the streets. Please place snow on the curb-line or next to your driveways. Offenders could be cited by the Police; fines are $600.

• Sidewalks are to be cleared of ice and/or snow within 24 hours of the storm. Failure to clear sidewalks could be punishable of a fine of $600. First time offenders are subject to $25 fine. Complaints about sidewalks are addressed by the Fire Department Code Enforcement Staff.

• When streets are plowed, snow will be pushed in front of driveways, parked cars and walking paths. Unfortunately, there are no other places for the snow to go. The Public Works Department apologies for the inconvenience.

• When parking on the street, motorists have to park their vehicles close to the curb. Parking your vehicle away from the curb due to snow buildup restricts traffic on the roadways and prevents the wide snowplows and emergency vehicles from traveling down streets.

• The Public Works Department is not permitted to assist residents by clearing private driveways, sidewalks or paths to mailboxes.

• There may be delays or cancellations of garbage collection as result of snow accumulations. Until the snow situation is under control, it is impossible to say when garbage will be back on schedule.

• Please keep fire hydrants clear of snow. They are for your safety!

GONETSPEED EXPANDS PRESENCE IN PITTSBURGH Adds Beaver Falls, Economy, Conway and Monaca to Service Territory; Offers New Customers Introductory offer of Lifetime Price Pledge

1/11/2018

ROCHESTER, NY – JANUARY 4, 2018 – GoNetspeed, a fiber-optic Internet service provider, today announced it has added Beaver Falls, Economy, Conway and Monaca to its Pittsburgh service territory, which already includes Ambridge.

“Residents have spoken, and we’re excited to announce our expansion plans  to new communities not only in Ambridge but also in these 4 new towns,” said Frank Chiaino, Chairman of GoNetspeed.

In addition, the company also announced introductory offer for new customers called “Lifetime Price Pledge.” For the entire time that a residence is a customer and resides at their current residence, GoNetpseed will not raise their monthly Internet fee.

“One of the main concerns for customers is the rising cost of Internet service and cable TV,” added Larry Coleman, President of GoNetspeed. “So we are offering an introductory offer offer to lock in the price of Internet fees today for residences.”

The company began offering residential service in Ambridge in October, with residential plans starting at $50 for 100 Megabit of bandwidth, with 500 Megabit and 1 Gigabit options as well.

With the adoption of streaming services, bandwidth-intensive gaming, and shear number of Internet of Things (IoT), high-speed Internet connectivity to

the home has become critical. GoNetspeed aims to bridge the digital divide by bringing fiber-optic connections directly to the customers.

The company has plans to expand service to other communities in Pennsylvania, as well as in other areas where interest is generated.

For more information on the company, or to inquire about service for your community, please visit www.gonetspeed.com.
