2018 National Junior Honor Society Inductees

19 new members were inducted into the NJHS. The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization, established in 1929 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. The association recognizes and honors middle-level students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. More than one million students in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories and Canada, participate in official Honor Society activities. In addition to recognizing their accomplishments, the NJHS challenges its members to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge Washing Activities begin Tuesday Night in Beaver County

PennDOT District 11 is announcing washing activities on the Ambridge- Bridge over the Ohio River in Ambridge Borough and the City of Aliquippa, Beaver County, will begin Tuesday night, May 29 weather permitting. 

Single-lane alternating traffic will occur on the bridge weeknights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights through Thursday night, June 7 as crews from Michael Facchiano Contracting, Inc. conduct bridge washing activities. Flaggers will assist motorists through the work zone.

Congratulations to Ambridge Boys Volleyball team on making into the WPIAL 2-A Championship.

The match will take place on Thursday, May 24th at Baldwin High School at 6pm against Derry.

Students are able to catch a fan bus to support the team. Students interested are to go to the High School Office to sign up.

Northbound Route 65 Lane Restriction at the Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge Friday and Saturday in Beaver County

PennDOT District 11 is announcing a northbound Route 65 lane restriction at the Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge in Ambridge Borough, Beaver County, will occur Friday and Saturday, May 11-12.

A single-lane restriction will occur on northbound Route 65 near the Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge between 8th Street and Logan Lane from 7 a.m. Friday morning through approximately 11:59 p.m. Saturday night. Crews will continue repair work on a damaged waterline due to a bridge strike last year.

Beemac Trucking  opened a new Driver Training  and Recruiting Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on  tuesday afternoon. 

The new  center is located in Harmony Township.   The building was  prior to being remodeled for Beemac trucking was home to Janice's Sweet Harmony  Cafe and Catering .

Beemac Trucking  is a trucking and logistics company providing asset-based trucking, logistics, port, warehousing and specialized services to customers throughout North America.  Headquartered in Ambridge area.

WPIAL Track and Field Top 24 List Releases with Three Ambridge Athletes Going to Championship Meet

The rules changed for Track and Field athletes last year in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL).  Instead of regional qualifying meets, in each event, athletes with the 24 best regular-season marks in Class AAA and the best 16 in Class AA will qualify for the WPIAL championship meet. 

The WPIAL  is made up of 10 counties:  Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland and is governed by the Constitution and By-Laws of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association ( PIAA).   There are are 51 schools in the AAA Track classification .   

The following Ambridge Athletes qualified based on based on times/distances achieved throughout the 2017 -2018 regular season . ​

Boys  Long Jump 
Robinson, Mahki, Grade  12  with a distance of  22-04.75 puts him at 3rd 

3200 Meter Run 
 Hanish, Leuca , Grade 11  with the time  of 12:01.94   puts her at 23rd 
​
400 Meter Dash 
Bobak, Kylie, Grade  10  with a time  of 62.54 puts  her at 23rd

Ambridge Jr High Places in 2018 Pennsylvania Statistics Poster Competition

The Science Outreach Center at Saint Francis University is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Pennsylvania Statistics Poster Competition. The annual state competition is in its twenty-second year overall, and is coordinated for the tenth year by Saint Francis University. Cash awards of $96 for first place, $72 for second, $48 for third, and $24 for fourth in each of four grade levels are awarded to the students who submitted winning posters.
 
External financial support is provided by several regional and state professional organizations, including the Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Association of Teachers of Mathematics of Philadelphia and Vicinity, Laurel Highlands Mathematics Alliance, Mathematics Council of Western Pennsylvania, and the Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh Chapters of the American Statistical Association (ASA).
 
A statistics poster is a display containing two or more related graphics that summarize a set of data, look at the data from different points of view, and answer specific questions about the data.
The 474 posters submitted included 123 in the K-3 grade category, 209 from grades 4-6, 44 from grades 7-9, and 98 from grades 10-12. These 474 posters were submitted from a total of 778 students! Judging for the state competition was held on Saturday, March 17, 2018.
 
Winning posters were then submitted to the National Statistics Poster Competition, which is coordinated by the American Statistical Association. Congratulations to all the students who created and submitted the winning and honorable mention posters, and to the teachers who guided the students.

Ambridge Musical Receives Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards Nominations

Congratulations to Corey Shaffer and the cast and crew of the Ambridge musical "Young Frankenstein" on their 2018 Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards nominations!

Shaffer has been nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of Igor, and the production has also received nods for Best Costume Design, Best Scenic Design, Best Technical Execution, Best Direction, Best Ensemble and Best Show.

Kamryn Rudolph of Ambridge was also awarded a scholarship to the Pittsburgh CLO Academy.

The annual awards presentation will take place on Sunday, May 20, at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts School in Midland.

2018 Prom Night in Ambridge

It's Prom Night in Ambridge! This afternoon, prom-goers participated in the annual Grand March tradition by strutting their stuff at the high school auditorium in front of a packed house of family and friends. The prom itself, themed "All Around the World," is taking place as we speak at the Fez in Hopewell Township. Best wishes for a safe and memorable night!
