Visitors who bring a hearty non-perishable food item to Old Economy from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 8 or from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 9, will receive free admission. All items are being donated to the Center for Hope.
Charter Day, or March 9, is held annually to celebrate the founding of Pennsylvania. In the visitor's center, Old Economy will display a copy of the Pennsylvania Charter, which was written back in 1861 and used to grant the land that’s now Pennsylvania to founder William Penn.
Visitors are asked to bring items that can be easily made into a meal such as soups, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese, stews, and hamburger helper.
