The Ambridge Area School District Performing Arts Academy will debut The Nutcracker live at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 6, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 in the Bridger Theater at Ambridge Area High School.
A special show time called "Presents for Patients" will be set aside for Sunday, Dec. 7. To donate tickets or for more information, call the box office at 724-266-2833 ext. 2220. Ticket costs are $10-$14.
Write Letters to Santa
During business hours in December
The Moonbeam Jar will have a special station set up for children to write a letter to Santa . Mary Holleran, owner , shared that Santa will answer each letter based upon the information proved and the response will be mailed back to the address provided.
The Santa Letter Writing Center is free and will be located at The Moonbeam Jar, 812 Merchant Street, Ambridge .
Santa Land at Recycled Dreams
Every Saturday in December
Recycled Dreams at the Silk House Cafe is hosting Santa Land especially for children. Kids will be able to shop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with assistance from store employees. Christmas presents will be wrapped so mom and dad can be surprised. Nothing over $10.
Hot cocoa and cookies will be provided for the kids and spiced wine for the grown ups. Recycled Dreams is located at 317 14th Street in Ambridge.
Model Train Show
Every Saturday and Sunday through January
The Ohio Valley Lines Model Railroad and Museum has opened its model railroad display for the annual holiday season.The Ohio Valley Lines Model Railroad Club, located at 1225 Merchant St. in Ambridge, is open noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through the month of January. Cost is $6 for adults and $2 for children.
Holiday Cookie Walk
Sunday, Dec. 7
The Holy Ghost Orthodox Church in Ambridge will host its annual cookie walk from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church youth center, 405 Maplewood Avenue. Proceeds benefit local charities.
Holiday Dinner with the Pittsburgh Opera
Wednesday, Dec. 10
Make your reservation with Old Economy Village for the Annual Holiday Dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 10. Dine in the historic Feast Hall and enjoy a special holiday performance by the Pittsburgh Opera, generously provided by Ambridge Regional Distribution & Manufacturing Center.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for wine, hors d’oeuvres and a tasting of Harmonist Beer brewed by Beaver Brewing Company using the original Harmonist recipe. Buffet dinner begins at 7 p.m. catered by Mezza Luna Cafe. Guests are invited to bring their own wine for dinner.
Performance by the Pittsburgh Opera begins at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $64 per person for Friends of Old Economy Village Members; $80 per person for non-members. RSVP no later than December 5.
