When I became recreation chairman of Ambridge council two years ago I wanted to plan a day for the community. A way to celebrate all that's good in Ambridge, so our committee decided what better time than fall.
With this concept in my mind I knew one important aspect of this community day was to have all the activities for children free. I began asking local businesses and elected officials if they would be willing to help make this day possible by contributing towards the children's activities and any excess would go into the recreation fund for playground equipment. They overwhelmingly gave and we covered the children's activities and had an excess of $1,200!
The other important aspect was to have all Ambridge businesses and churches as food vendors, so all the money would stay in Ambridge and help the businesses and churches that are so vital to our community. It must have worked because they all agreed to be vendors once again for this year's festival. All of the food vendor's are from Ambridge again with the exception of one, which is from our neighboring town of Aliquippa.
reduced the fee for Ambridge residents.
As for the craft vendors, we reduced the fee for Ambridge residents.
Entertainment is a way to showcase local talent and increase the fun. So, I was lucky enough to have a wonderful entertainer Patrick Escoto help plan. He not only planned a full day of musical talent but also these musicians were kind enough and care about Ambridge enough to donate their time to entertain us.
The added feature this year and something that I'm very excited about is the parade. This is possible all thanks to Felicia Mycyk from Ambridge Connection. She donated her time and effort to Ambridge by planning every aspect of the parade. Which will add so much to the festivities of the day. I am so grateful for her time and effort and can't wait to see the parade marching down Merchant Street!
We hope every year to grow the festival, my hope is that all of our community will be part of this day and come and enjoy a family day in the park. The food will be amazing as well as the entertainment, there will be great items to purchase and the kids will have a great time.
I hope to see you there to celebrate Ambridge's proud past and bright future.
