Jim Tressel, Youngstown State University president and former head coach at Ohio State University--where he won the national championship and seven Big Ten championships--shared his message of success.
"You need to surround yourself with quality people, especially your friends, along with working a plan and setting goals," was the message that Neil Tkatch, high school guidance counselor, shared from the speech.
Teachers, coaches, principals and community members say it every day, but when someone who is seen as a celebrity says it, the message may reach different students.
Tressel has two books published "The Winners Manual: for the Game of Life and Life Promises for Success."
Darnell Dinkins, who spent nine years in NFL, was a Superbowl Champion with the New Orleans Saints, and was a former Rutgers University coach, presented a program called "Guiding the College Bound Athlete."
Rick Cunnard, father of two current athletes in the district, came with his wife. Cunnard shared that with both programs this week at Ambridge, it showed him that Ambridge is really trying to turn things around.
Each family who attended received free SAT and ACT Test Preparation programs.
Darnell Carter II, a 10th grader from Beaver Falls, came with his father, Darnell Carter.
The father shared that he went to college for athletics and was lost and wished he had programs like this.
