Council formally adopted a new ordinance Tuesday that repeals a section of zoning code requiring restaurants to keep food inside their establishments.
Once spring arrives, Kontoulis said it will be nice to put a table or two outside their Merchant Street restaurant, which cannot accommodate tables inside.
Council President Michael Mikulich said the pro-business ordinance permits establishments to place tables outside.
"People can sit outside, read a newspaper, have a cup of coffee or whatever the case may be."
