Ambridge 1989 Alumni and Hall of Honor 2018 inductee Dr. Ken Cirka donated $10,000 to the high school to start a Care to Share Locker.
Breyanne Mycyk, student, said that this is a great idea. " I know some my friends are hungry because that do not have lunch money or they don't have hygiene products at home to take care of themselves."
She shared that it is embarrassing for some to go and ask a group of people for deodorant or tampons.
Cirka said that it was his honor and he hopes that the check starts the locker.
"When I heard about Kenny's interest in helping the community he grew up in, I was not surprised" shared Stacey Brock, Ambridge teacher.
"He is always looking for ways to give back. I was overwhelmed with the generosity of his donation, and I hope it inspires our Class of 1989 and other classes to follow his lead" added Brock.
Not only did Cirka donate to the school he also paid for 500 students from Ambridge and various schools to attend the only joint LGBTQ Prom+ Youth Prom in Southwestern PA. The prom was held at The Andy Warhol Museum that included a sit-down dinner, dancing silkscreen printing and more.
"Dr. Cirka is a wonderful and gracious person who remembers his roots. We are very fortunate to have his support" shared Superintendent L. Joan Welter.
