The school board held a special meeting Monday under salary schedule and labor relations, a committee chaired by board Vice President Kim Locher.
The teachers voted Tuesday night to reject the fact finder report as well. There are 183 teachers that make up the Ambridge Area Education Association. Teachers have been working without a contract since June 30, 2015.
The fact finder is a third party who evaluates the disputed facts between the two sides in labor negotiations and offers solutions to make talks more productive.
Ambridge’s fact finder report, dated March 28, was reviewed by both the school board and the Ambridge Area Education Association.
Lauren Mawhinney, president of AAEA, said, “our teachers remain absolutely committed to academic excellence.”
“We are fully committ to serving our students, our parents and our community.”
“We are always very hopeful,” Mawhinney added, when asked if the board and teachers will come to an agreement soon. “It's a two-way street. Hopefully we will be able to come to a very reasonable agreement, but just being just one member of the team, I would not be able to have answer to that one.”
The next public board meeting will be held at the high school on Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m. for general voting purposes. Ambridge School board has canceled the regularly scheduled meet and discuss board meeting for Wednesday, April 13.
