Council President Mike Mikulich said, “my feeling was I thought it was a horrible show the last time. It showed some very nasty and negative things about Beaver County midget football "
“Maybe if it was filmed again, it would shine a better light, show that that does not happen all the time. That's not the normal for this. Maybe they will see a different Beaver County, a different Ambridge.”
“No one wants it to be the final word,” added Mycyk, who shared that the head coach for the Midget level is now a local Ambridge graduate, Marlon Kittrel.
Mikulich pointed out how the school district was leary about having it.
Ambridge Area School Board was asked to reconsider its vote
During last Wednesday night's school board meeting, Kittrel petitioned the board to vote again on the unanimous May decision denying filming at the high school stadium where the ALB football games are held.
President Roger Kowal spoke about the compensation the organization received, stating that “your $3,000 they give you is doing $150,000 damage to the area.”
“The program itself depicts Ambridge itself as being a bunch of slums,” Kowal said. “That’s not the way we are. This community is not that way. That’s all of our concerns.”
“That isn’t who we are in Ambridge... We love our kids, we discipline our kids, we teach our kids. ” Kittrel said.
"My staff is full of people from Ambridge who have done well for themselves, who are professionals and who will portray themselves professionally.”
“Please allow us to be featured so our kids can continue to be featured and dream big,” Kittrell said.
Locher shared that her concern was not with the coaches or parents but with the editing and asked for the Ambridge Lil Bridgers to review the contract with Friday Night Tykes and see if there is any ability in the contract about editing because they made Ambridge look like “trash.”
Kim Locher said. “If we are to reconsider this, you need to bring something back to us that shows how that’s going to change for next year.”
“ Drama sells but so does redemption." added Kitrell
