At the November 14th Meeting, the Borough Council and Mayor announced that the Borough was awarded a $100,000 grant from the State that will enable significant improvements within Walter Panek and 8th Street Parks in 2018.
This project, estimated to cost $148,660, includes complete reconstruction of the existing basketball court at Panek Park, and at 8th Street: new playground equipment, a wheel-chair swing set, a handicap swing, a new 24’x 36’picnic shelter with electric and lighting, accessible routes and handicap parking accommodations are planned to be built. At the completion of this project, all of the Ambridge Parks will now be accessible for those with disabilities, a little more safe, attractive and welcoming to children and families.
This grant award was one of 83 Greenways, Trails and Recreation Grants awarded throughout the Commonwealth this year by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
