Did you ever wonder what was behind those white fences at 13th and Church Street?
Would you like to tour the recently renovated Rapp Houses or see what is growing in the Harmonist gardens? Looking for something different and exciting to do on a Saturday? If you answered yes to any of these questions and you are a resident of the Borough of Ambridge, then today is your lucky day. Head on over to Old Economy Village and pick up your FREE Ambridge Borough Resident Pass which will gain you access to Old Economy Village for the rest of 2015. Just bring along a valid, current ID – such as a driver’s license, utility bill, or anything that verifies they live in the Borough of Ambridge.
Every Saturday, until the end of September, provides a different topic or program for visitors to experience and enjoy. On Saturday, July 11 you can Meet the Gardeners and see a wide variety of flowers, vegetables, and herbs growing throughout the gardens. Saturday, July 18 is The Fabric of Their Lives – Textiles. Demonstrators will be interpreting the art and craft of spinning, weaving, and textile production. On July 25 we close out the month with Decorative Arts. This tour will take a look at the finer things that were owned and used by the Harmony Society.
Site Administrator Michael Knecht said, “The Resident Pass is our way of saying thank you to Borough residents who may occasionally be inconvenienced when OEV programs and events bring large numbers of visitors to town. Old Economy Village is Ambridge’s historic site. We want Ambridge residents to come out to the Village often to explore their community’s earliest beginnings.”
