Two years ago, Soren Flook nearly drowned and was without oxygen for 13 minutes, shared Diana Russo, a family friend.
“He is slowly progressing,” Russo said. “He cannot walk, he cannot talk and his insurance does not cover all of the needs.“
Norma’s Hair Salon is having a marathon dry hair Cut-A-Thon to help raise money for Flook.
The event will start at 10 a.m. and will cut hair on a first-come, first-serve basis with walk-ins only. The salon will have four stylists working the event and all money and tips will be donated to the family.
Participants will be able to enjoy coffee and donuts as they wait for their appointment

“He suffers neurological damage. But he is still inside fighting hard to come out. He cannot walk, talk, eat, or cry. He gets physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech. But we want to get him a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. The cost of a portable chamber is much cheaper than treatment sessions of 150.00 each. The amount of sessions he will need is undetermined but may be up to 40 or more, which is $6,000.00 plus traveling expenses. The cheapest most efficient chamber starts at $5,000.00 and eliminates the need to drag him out in this weather and expose him to viruses which he does not need right now. I want our baby boy back. He is trying so hard. The hyperbaric therapy will reactivate brain cells that have gone dormant. “
