Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church Deacon Thomas J. Klacik was accepted to attend Studium Carpato-Ruthenorum 2017 International Summer School for Rusyn Language and Culture at the University of Prešov in Presov, Slovakia.
The annual three-week summer school is for those interested in studying the Rusyn language, culture, ethnography and the history of the Carpatho-Rusyns.
"I want to be able to participate as a deacon in the liturgy" shared Klacik. "To speak the language of my grandparents and parents and further my understanding of the Slavonic liturgy."
A Go Fund Me was set up to assist Klacik with tuition and airfare.
