Ambridge School District Takes on the Polar Plunge

Ambridge Area School District raised $4,393.65 for the The Beaver County Polar Bear Plunge event that benefits Special Olympics Pennsylvania.

On Saturday, 40 people represented the school district by jumping or running into icy cold waters.

According to the website, plunge participants take a quick dip in the river to raise funds for Special Olympics Pennsylvania, the state's largest year-round organization devoted to sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Team Captain Jaclyn Smithhammer sent an email out to assisted with the plunge  "Thank you to everyone  who helped out and or donated!"

"It shows what a great district we are and how we can pull together to raise thousands of dollars for a GREAT CAUSE that our kids enjoy!"

All five buildings in Ambridge competed by raising funds for the plunge
