"We always had firework in Ambridge," she said.
Sheleheda attended the Ambridge Volunteer Fire Department meeting and asked for the support of the department.
"We voted to help out, to raise money for next year" said Fire Chief Dave Drewnowski.
Fireworks would require a community-wide fundraising effort.
"She has to get approval from council if it's okay to shoot fireworks. Then we have to find a good location -- it is still in the planning stages," Drewnowski said.
Sheleheda said the goal is to have the fireworks next year,
"If we do not raise enough money we will carry the funds over to 2017," said Sheleheda.
Individuals or groups interested in starting the planning process can attend a meeting to be held on August 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the fire department training room.
