The Ambridge Fire Department is seeking donations to help raise $12,000 toward the purchase of a new thermal imaging camera.
Ambridge Firefighter Donald Larrick Jr., who is spearheading the initiative, said the department's equipment needs to be updated.
Fifrefighters can use thermal imaging cameras to see through walls and objects to detect heating sources and even people trapped inside.
"As firefighters, we are trying to make a positive difference through our actions. Our goal is to make our community a better place for residents, animals and the environment," Larrick said.
A donation letter is being sent out to local businesses this week to help the fire department reach its goal. Checks can be made out to:
