Two Ambridge Area football players will continue their outstanding athletic achievements after high school at nationally-recognized Division I and II universities.
Senior Dan Zajac will attend Division I Delaware State University to play football for the Hornets.
Senior Brett Balkovec Jr. will attend Division II West Liberty University to play football for the Hilltoppers. Brett, who plays offensive guard, received a scholarship.
"Thanks goes out to anyone who has helped me get here and all my teammates," Brett said in a message on social media.
Dan, a middle linebacker, was also awarded a full athletic scholarship to Delaware State, where he plans to study movement science. He said, "it was definitely a relief."
"If you really work for something, you can accomplish it. I'm just an example of that," said Zajac, a two-time Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association First Team and Pennsylvania Fabulous 22 selection as a high school senior.
Each student recently signed their letter of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers. Feb. 5 was National Signing Day.
