The musical first opened on Broadway in 1998 and is adapted from the 1984 movie.
The high school production of "Footloose" follows Ren McCormack, the dance-loving kid who, because of his mother’s financial struggles after his father abandoned the family, is forced to move from his home in Chicago to Bomont to live with his aunt and uncle.
Ren isn’t prepared for the conservative small-town edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the powerful local preacher, whose rebellious daughter, Ariel Moore, sets her sights on Ren.
The show features many of the well-known songs the movie made famous, including “Footloose."
The show opened on Thursday. Performances continue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13 and the final performance is 3 p.m. Sunday, March 13 in the Bridger Theater at Ambridge Area High School.
Cost: $12 for adults , $10 for students
