An Ambridge High School softball player is in Tennessee this week as part of the ASA/USA National Champion for girls fastpitch softball.
Brooklyn Kotula plays on the 16U team for the Pittsburgh Spirit.
Pittsburgh Spirit is a fastpitch softball organization for players 8 to 19 years old. They are located in Pittsburgh and attract players from Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and Northern West Virginia. Tryouts for the teams are in August.
The tournament runs from July 26 to August 2 at Warner Park in Tennessee.
"This is the first time our team has gone to Chattanooga, Tennessee for this competition," said Kotula.
Kotula hopes that there will be numerous college coaches to recruit players.
"I'm hoping some of them recognize me and offer me a chance to play at the college level," Kotula said in an email.
"After missing most of last season and Nationals due to a broken index finger, I'm excited to again get to play against some of the best competition in the country at one of the best Nationals tournaments in the country."
