Ohio Valley Lines Train Display and Museum, 1225 Merchant St, will be open to visitors for a small donation fee of $6 for adults, $2 for ages 6-12, younger is free. They will give away four trains both days to children as part of their Trains for Tots program. Trains for Tots runs the durations of their six-week display period.
RiverTown Antiques, located at 1307 Merchant St, is hosting a “Christmas Wine & Cheese Pre-party” Saturday, December 2nd, 5pm – 6pm. RSVP 412-337-5796. RiverTown will also offer Christmas Open House coffee and cookies from 1-3 pm every Saturday up until Dec 23.
Located on the corner of Church and 13th Street the house was built in 1820, with an addition later added in 1826, Akulina’s Antiques is offering a weekend of wine, cheese and shopping. They offer an incredible collection of vintage children’s books and toys, tools, a wide array of niche collectables, and lovely jewelry.
Good Intent Trading, located just next door to Akulina’s on 13th St, will serve hot chocolate, coffee, and cookies from 12-5 pm. The building is just as interesting as the antique and collectible objects within it; the outbuilding, known as The Annex, rolled onto the site on logs in 1910.
“Guests are welcome to spend the weekend exploring the Historic District and spend the evening in one of the two restored Harmonist Bed n Breakfast buildings," said Connie Kovolenko Co-chair of the AHDEC. "These buildings showcase what's possible to those interested in historic preservation.”
