ALB is a developmental cheer and football program that has three levels of teams. The football levels are Twerp, Termites, and Midgets. Over 200 children are in the cheer and football program.
All three levels regular season game record earn them a place in the October playoff season. The Twerps finished their season after the first round and the Midgets advanced to and lost in the semifinals. The Termites were not permitted to compete in the postseason even with an undefeated regular season record.
Ambridge Connection reached out to the TSYFL President, Jeff Engelmore, for a comment on why the Termites were not permitted to participate in the postseason. Engelmore stated, "Ambridge knows what they did, talk to Kenny." He then added," when you write your story send it to me so I can give it to my lawyer."
"These boys had a great season and played their hearts out all season. All the credit goes to them. Great group of young men." said Jason Brooks, Head Coach for the Termites.
A letter dated Sept. 18, from the TSYFL Board of Directors, stated that ALB violated the terms of suspension of coach and parent.
After careful consideration of all input received over the last two days from member organizations, it is the TSYFL Board's decision to take the following disciplinary actions in response to the violation that occurred at the Ambridge Termites game at Midwestern on 9/16/ 18. The ALB organization will not be permitted to host the playoff games previously arranged to be at Ambridge on 10 /14 / 18, and the Little Bridger Termites team is removed from all postseason considerations (now ineligible for 2018 playoffs).
During the special meeting held at Ambridge on 8/28/18, the TSYFL President explained the seriousness of the incident in the Ambridge stands involving parents, grandparents and an assistant coach during the previous Termite game against Ft. Cherry. Indefinite suspensions were imposed on each of the individuals involved, and it was clearly stated that further incidents would result in progressive discipline, even putting the season, postseason and the league membership all in jeopardy. However, on 9/16/ 18 in spite of having been put on clear notice, two of the sanctioned individuals violated the terms of the suspension by attending the terminate game at Midwestern, and it is those violations that have promoted the disciplinary actions outline above in this memo.
What did the kids do, they don’t deserve that.
I sent an email asking for reconsideration of reinstating the termite team, and it was still denied. We kept quiet for the most part to save the other two remaining teams from being removed. It was a constant threat like keeping score on every incident. "
Carlisle added, "It was by far the most difficult and stressful year as a president for me in 4 years."
