An Ambridge police officer has been promoted in the ranks.
Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to promote Ambridge police Sgt. Brian Jameson to patrol lieutenant.

As part of the promotion, Jameson had to pass a civil service test, which he took on April 3.
"Brian Jameson passed with flying colors," said Council President Michael Mikulich, adding that Jameson was the only applicant.
Jameson, an Ambridge resident, has been a police officer for 19 years and has spent 16 years on the borough department.
He received a round of applause after the vote, and thanked everyone before council members and attending police officers congratulated him.
"I'd like to thank members of council and members of the audience today, and also the fellow police officers that I work with. Everything I'm able to do, I'm able to do because of you guys," he said.
Ambridge plans to advertise for part-time police officers.

- Tom Patrician of Ambridge as borough electrician, contigent upon certification, and Fire Chief David Drewnowski as the back up electrician.
- Kristen Komosa of Harmony Township as administrative secretary at $16 an hour with no benefits. The hiring is contingent upon passing a secretarial test.
