At last night’s Council Meeting the officers of the Ambridge Area High School Marine Corps JROTC were recognized for their service to the community. They were presented with a proclamation that read:

WHEREAS, the Ambridge Area High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC Unit is made up of approximately 65 dedicated students under the direction of Master Sergeant Thomas Short, and;
WHEREAS, the MCJROTC is a strong program that provides youth with much-needed skills in citizenship and leadership, and through this curriculum it motivates students to learn, fosters a disciplined and constructive learning environment, and instils essential skills like time organization, responsibility, goal setting and teamwork, and;
WHEREAS, through this teamwork and learning how to be informed and responsible citizens, the MCJROTC cadets have dedicated hundreds of hours of community service each year giving back to the Ambridge-Area community and helps with many events and programs, and;
WHEREAS, each year the cadets assist with the Ambridge Fall Festival of the Churches by setting up tents, booths, cleanup, helping with children’s activities and present the colors during the opening ceremony, and without their assistance this cherished community-building event would not be possible, and;
WHEREAS, the Ambridge Area MCJROTC cadets have shown to the community and their fellow students that they have a high degree of personal honor, self-reliance, individual discipline and leadership, making them an example for everyone to follow and look up to.
THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Ambridge Borough Council and Mayor recognizes and publicly gives gratitude to the Ambridge Area High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC Unit for their service to the Citizens of Ambridge, and;
FURTHER, on behalf of the Citizens of Ambridge, we are proud of the Ambridge Area MCJROTC Unit’s achievements and service, and look forward to the many partnerships and community initiatives to come.
