Board member Kimberly Locher said she would like more information about the situation and the alternatives. She said she recalls the district having one or no students attending Glade Run.
“I’d like to see what other choices we might have for that,” Locher said.
The board plans to discuss the agreement further at Wednesday's Aug. 19 meeting.
The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services secretary and the Zelienople police chief both confirmed that sex abuse allegations against the home for troubled children are being investigated, according to WPXI-TV. An alleged secret sex club at Glade Run may have involved children as young as 8 years old.
The school board did approve an educational service agreement with Holy Family Institute and Western Pennsylvania School for the Blind Children Outreach Program for 2015=16 school year.
In other business, the board approved an agreement between the school district and FNT Enterprises LLC for the Little Tykes Program at no cost to the district.
- Approved Brian Miller be approved as the athletic and transportation director at a salary of $60,000.
- Approved the retirement of Mary Romeo, transportation director, effective Aug. 14.
- Approved a $6 increase to $40 per day for crossing guards. The district splits the cost with Ambridge Borough, which approved the increase as well.
