This month, Ambridge was named a Tree City USA community for its shade tree efforts.
“The borough is very serious about its commitment to be a good steward of the environment,” council President Michael Mikulich said. “Part of that commitment means providing an outstanding level of tree care.”

Ambridge joins Beaver as the second Beaver County municipality to receive the designation. The program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service.
To receive Tree City USA recognition, a municipality has to have a shade tree commission, a tree care ordinance, a community forestry program with annual spending of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observation or proclamation.
