Ambridge Track Earns Spots in WPIAL Finals

Ambridge boys volleyball and girls softball have both qualified for the 2014 WPIAL playoffs.

Congrats to Ambridge Area High School track athletes who qualified for WPIAL finals held at Pine-Richland this week.

The following athletes will move on to the WPIAL Championships in Baldwin on Friday, May 16.

Freshman Isaac Elliott qualified in three events: 2nd place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.05 seconds and took first place with 22.19 seconds in the 200-meter dash. He teamed up with Anthony Hill, Khalil Harvey and Davon Jackson for the 4 x 100 meter race with a qualifying time 44.75 seconds.

Senior Davon Jackson also earn a spot with triple jump, jumping 42.05 feet and landing in sixth place.

Side note: Eighth-grader Isaiah McNair set a record at the Moon Invitational running the 800-meter race in 2.11 minutes.

Volleyball
The Ambridge boys volleyball team has finished the season as Section Champions and have clinched a first round bye in the WPIAL playoffs.

The team's first playoff game will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15 against Deer Lakes or Keystone Oaks at Ambridge Area High School.


Softball
The Ambridge girls varsity softball team has qualified for the 2014 WPIAL playoffs. 

The softball team will play their first-round game at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 15 against South Fayette at Fairhaven  Park in McKees Rocks.
