During my September, 2014, visit to Ambridge, I wanted to take a photo of "Ambridge's First Building," which the Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation had recognized with a historical marker. I wasn't sure where the building was, and a visit to the BCHRLF's Historical Marker Program page didn't help because, although "First Building in Ambridge" was listed, the marker's location wasn't given. Economy Volunteer Fire Department, in partnership with Columbia Gas, will be distributing complimentary combination carbon monoxide and smoke detectors to local families in need.

Free gift wrapping for all locally-bought gifts were offered at the chamber office. In PJ Caul Park, a number of free activities were provided to children and families, which included pictures with Santa and free horse-drawn carriage rides. Musical entertainment was provided along Merchant Street and in the park. Laughlin Memorial Library is operating on altered hours today and tomorrow while the boiler and heating system is being replaced in the building. Hours are from 10-4 Friday and from 9-4 on Saturday. Julie Mulcahy, director, said normal hours will resume all next week on both floors, and all entrances. The project at the 85-year-old Ambridge library, ongoing for the past few weeks, is operating on schedule, she said. |
