The couple told police they found the baby earlier in the afternoon not breathing in their apartment. The couple jumped into a car parked outside to take the child to a hospital when they said they ran out of gas.
According to KDKA, the couple flagged down a Good Samaritan who drove them to the Sheetz. After they arrived at Sheetz, paramedics and police were called.
Ambridge Police along with the Beaver County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death of Kourtney Taylor.
Results of an autopsy performed Sunday showed inconclusive results and more tests will be needed to determine a cause of death, according to KDKA.
The parents are in police custody. Both were arrested on bench warrants unrelated to the child’s death.
Police said the car the couple got in outside their apartment was also reported stolen by someone else from a Washington County car rental business.
