On July 18, 2015 the benefit concert known as "With A Little Help From My Friends" was performed by members of the Facebook group known as Beaver County Rockers.
The main objective of the event was to raise funds for local homeless military veterans, and to bring attention to the plight of veterans everywhere. We believe that both of these goals were met. With a total of more than $6,000 raised, and thousands of people reached through Facebook, Twitter, newspaper articles, and word of mouth, we hope others will join us in our endeavor.
Five of the areas hottest bands volunteered to play a six-hour concert at the Baden American Legion. In order of appearance: The Mudslinger Band, Dream Machine, Live at Stan's, Point Blank and Passin' Thru. These bands performed flawless, high energy sets of classic rock n' roll music, including songs by everyone from Stevie Nicks, ELO, and Tom Petty to the Mamas and Papas and the Beatles.
The last band of the night was based on Ringo Star's All-Star Band, in which members of all five bands, and various performers from other local bands, joined together to play some of the most iconic songs of the '60s, complete with costumes, long-haired wigs, beads, peace signs and tie-dyed shirts.
This band is known as "The Beaver County Rockers All-Star Band" and they performed like All-Stars, recreating hit songs like "Incense and Peppermints", "Dance to the Music", and what we think was the highlight of the show, "The Beat Goes On" and "I Got You Babe". Our "Sonny and Cher", in costume, brought down the house. A three-piece horn section put the finishing touch on many of the performances.
Event coordinators and performing musicians, David Cipriani and Ray Fernandez are currently planning the next project for this amazing group of people. In the meantime, we hope that people everywhere will continue to support our military veterans in need.
