Seven times a day, someone in this country dies in a home fire. The American Red Cross has launched a nationwide campaign to reduce this number and our volunteers can help save lives and prevent injuries. On Nov. 14, the American Red Cross will conduct door-to-door fire safety canvassing in the Ambridge area. On Dec. 4 and 5, they will return to visit homes to install smoke alarms, conduct home fire safety checklists and develop fire escape plans for Ambridge residents.

- Go door-to door and speak with residents about the importance of smoke alarms and promote the free smoke alarm installation service.
- Organize canvassing events and help residents develop a fire escape plan and complete a fire-safety checklist.
- Install smoke alarms, replace batteries and teach residents how to test and maintain their smoke alarms.
