A large crowd gathered to watch as Store Manager Cory Campbell and Economy Mayor Dave Polling cut the ceremonial ribbon, marking the official open to the new Walmart Supercenter in Economy.
The grand opening celebration featured the Ambridge High School Band, local dignitaries, giveaways and grant presentations as part of the grand opening.
Now open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the store at 1500 Economy Way includes a grocery, pharmacy auto shop and a wide assortment of merchandise.
Walmart will also host a "Big Family Welcome" community celebration for residents from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 24. Customers can meet the store manager and enjoy family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last.
