Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the Schneider residence, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby homes.
Baden, Conway, Fair Oaks and Crescent Township fire departments also responded to assist.
Borough officials Tuesday night, praised the firefighters, particularly Donnie Larrick Jr., who was first to arrive on scene and quickly moved into action with the help of police. No one was injured.
Councilman Joe Pucci, public safety chairman, touted the benefits of having a full-time fire department.
Councilwoman Tina Iorfido-Miller, who is friends with the Schneider family, said she knows they plan to rebuild in Ambridge after losing everything.
“This family loves this town so much," she said.
A fund has been set up and a fundraiser will take place May 3 at the Ambridge Polish Falcons to support the family. Donations of food and clothing also can be dropped off for the family at the borough building.
