Carnegie Science Center's Mobile Fab Lab visited the Ambridge Junior High School on Friday morning. The Fab Lab is short for Fabrication Laboratory. It’s a place where you can create something from design to fabrication. The students participated in the Sphero Chariot challenge.
The challenge includes the use of a 2D CAD program to design a 3D “chariot,” completely from scratch, using the laser cutter. Power comes from a Sphero robot, which can be live controlled or coded.
Teams attempt to code their vehicle to complete an obstacle course and transport the nuclear waste to a designated safety zone on the road course.
