Columbia Gas took time out on Tuesday to remind the public to call 811 before they dig and to express gratitude to the Ambridge Municipal contractors and Ambridge Water Authority for being safe.
"The number one cause of natural gas incidents nationwide is damage to pipelines through hit lines,"said Sarah Perry, senior communications and community relations specialist.
"It's important for everyone to know to call 811 to have utility lines marked at least 3 days before digging occurs. It's the law," Perry said.

Columbia Gas representatives gave each group a shovel to say thanks for safe and responsible digging.
