Congratulations to all the candidates from that received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Bishop Zubik celebrated the mass at Good Samaritan Church in Ambridge followed by a reception for family and friends in the church hall. Confirmation, is a sacrament of initiation. It establishes young adults as full-fledged members of the faith. This sacrament is called Confirmation because the faith given in Baptism is now confirmed and made strong. During your Baptism, your parents and godparents make promises to renounce Satan and believe in God and the Church on your behalf. At Confirmation, you renew those same promises, this time speaking for yourself. It is believed that the Holy Spirit confirmed the Apostles and gave them faith and courage to practice the faith. The same Holy Spirit confirms Catholics during Confirmation and provides each candidate with the same gifts.
