December Celebrations, Fundraisers, and More

There are so many places to celebrate the holidays without driving more than a few miles or minutes from home. We've got you covered, visit the Ambridge Area this month for lots of fun and activities.
All month:    Write Letters to Santa during Business hours in December  at the Moonbeam Jar.  Santa will answer each letter based upon the information provided. The letters will be mailed to the child's address. Cost: Free
Located at 812 Merchant St., Ambridge 

All month: Looking for a Christmas Tree? Boy Scout Troop 498 currently has them on sale from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.   
Located in Ambridge Regional Parking lot  on 23rd street in Ambridge 

Every weekend:  The Ohio Valley Lines Miniature Railroad , Museum, and Library has opened its model railroad display for the annual holiday season.  Open noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays   Cost  $6 adults $2 Children ages 3 to 12

​Dec. 3  Holiday Concert: Ambridge Jr High  7p.m. Cost: Free

Dec. 4, 5, and 6 Ambridge Area High School District Performing Arts Academy will be performing the holiday classic The Nutcracker  directed and choreographed by Kenneth Nickel   December 4th and 5th at 7:30 p.m On Dec. 6  at 2 p.m.  proceeds of that performance will benefit Center for hope.

Dec. 5 Ambridge High School Interact Club will host a live silent auction to benefit Center for Hope. Doors open at 10 a.m. Cost: $10

Dec. 5 Open house at R&S Enterprises Printing, Inc. come for specials, surprises, gift ideas and door prizes

Dec. 5  Visit the German Santa Claus, Belsnickel at Old Economy Village  from 10 am to 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Children can choose to make a simple craft during the visit.  Light refreshments will be available.  While you're there enjoy a historic tour and see the Christmas Decorations. Cost:regular admission

Dec. 5  Shop the Beaver Valley Antique Trail during the Holiday Shopping Extravaganza.  Shop 10 locations for unique Christmas gifts. Cost: Varies

Dec. 5.  Anderson Candies will hold a Wine and Chocolate  open house from  6 p.m. to 9 p.m.   They will have giveaways and candy cash throughout the night.  A variety of ready made items will be available purchase.

Dec. 5 , 6 , 12 ,and 13 Santa Claus will be at Economy Walmart from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Cost: Free

Dec. 8 Participate in the Hour of Code at the Baden Library.  The Hour of Code is a global initiative designed to teach young people basic computer coding skills.  Event will run from 5 pm and 6 pm Open to is kids K-12 Cost: Free

Dec. 9 Baden Library will host a craft day called ' Tis the Season for Poinsettia Ornaments.'  The day will start at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required. Cost: Free

Dec. 9 Old Economy Village will have a candlelit dinner in the historic Feast Hall with a special performance by the Pittsburgh Opera. Reservation required. Cost: $64 for FOEV members and $80 for non-members.

Dec. 10 Holiday Concert: Economy Elementary School 7 p.m. Cost: Free 

Dec. 11 & 12  Ukrainian Holiday Bake Sale will be held from 10 am to 2 pm on Dec 11. and on Dec 12 from 2 pm to 6 pm at SS Peter and Paul School Hall.   Ukrainian cookies, breads and cakes available for sale for the Christmas season.

Dec. 12   Finish you Christmas shopping , enjoy food, win prizes and support the Ambridge Marine Corps JROTC all at the Holiday Craft Show.  The craft show is sponsored by Little Bit's Candy shoppe  and will have a 50/50 and Chinese auction Saturday 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Located at American Legion Building , 400 Duss Ave, Ambridge.  Guest are asked to go to  bottom floor and use the side entrance.

Dec. 12  While shopping for Christmas cookies and dinner at Shop n Save stop and grab a treat bag and take with Santa  from 10 am to noon.

Dec. 12  Ambridge Regional Chamber of Commerce will start the day off with a Parade at 11 am and then will have music in the park from 12 to 3 p.m.  Included in this years Christmas on Merchant celebration will be a Merchants Merry Map Quest  Free carriage rides on Merchant street.

Dec. 12 Laughlin Memorial Library  will have Pictures with Santa from noon to 3 pm.  Enjoy free cookies, hot chocolate and activity while listing to musical entertainment by Holly Mathis, Bridget McCrum, and Leanna Regalla.  Cost: Free

Dec. 12   St. John's Lutheran Church, will have its annual Live Nativity. The presentation runs every 20 minutes from 4:40 p.m. to 6:40 p.m., followed by Carol Singing at 7 p.m. The public is also invited to dine authentic German food  from 1 to 6:30 p.m. at the church. The historic church will be open to the public for guided tours from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Dec. 12  Vape With It will hold a CLOUD competition at 4 p.m.   This is a contest played with electronic cigarettes where contestants inhale on the devices and covert the juice into vapor. The object is to blow the biggest densest vapor cloud possible.  Sponsors Epicloud, Vaporgate, Savage, Dr. Juice and many more will be on location during the event. Sign up at the door. Cost to enter: Free

Dec. 12 & 13 Old Economy Villages invites you to step back in time and visit a 19th century Christmas Village.  Walk along a candlelit cobblestone street and step inside the historic buildings to catch a glimpse of times past.  Cost: $10 adults (12-64); $9 seniors (65+); $6 children (3-11); free for FOEV Members and Ambridge Borough Pass Holders

Dec. 12 & 13  Give Christmas to an entire family buy donating to Project Holiday Dreams Stuff a Bus from 10 to 4 p.m.

Dec. 13  Harmony Volunteer Fire department will bring Santa around  around the township to visit all the good boys and girls.

Dec. 15 Holiday Concert: State Street Elementary  7 pm Cost: Free

Dec. 17   Celebrate the release of the upcoming Star Wars movie at the Baden Library.  They will have activities, snacks and all things Star Wars from  5 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Cost: Free

Dec. 18  Baden Volunteer Fire department will bring Santa around  around the township to visit all the good boys and girls.

Dec. 19 Laughlin Memorial Library ask you join them for a talk by local author, Paul Gentile,  11:30 a.m. Paul will be giving a presentation about his book, Salvatore and Maria: Finding Paradise, a story of his grandparents. Salvatore Ciccone, local history and  Italian heritage. Cost: Free

Dec. 19 New Alliance Federal Credit Union will have Santa at the Ambridge office from 9 a.m. to noon. Have your picture taken with St. Nick and you will get a free polaroid  and also  it will be emailed to you.  Cost: Free

Dec. 19  Jazzy Hat Entertainment Services Presents Ambridge VFW Post 165 will host a Christmas Dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Enjoy drink specials , shooters,and music by DJ Frankie B . Public is welcome. Cost: $3.00

Dec. 21 Rescheduled :  Holiday Concert: Highland Elementary 7 pm ( will be held at High School ) Cost: Free 

Dec. 21, 22, and 23 Economy Volunteer Fire department  will bring Santa around to visit all the good boys and girls.

Dec. 22  Have Pizza with Santa  to help raise funds for  Project Holiday Dreams.  Five local organizations teamed up to help raise Money for the project to help local families to have a complete Christmas from dinner on the table to presents under the tree. There are 3 time slots to choose from noon, 4 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. Get your tickets in person at Little Athens or online at https://pizzawithsanta2015.eventbrite.com Cost $5

Dec. 23 St. John's Russian Orthodox church in Ambridge will have a Christmas Bake and Pirohy Sale.  Items for sale include rolls, specialty cookies, cookie trays, pirohy, and haluskhy.  All orders must be called in By Dec. 16 for pick up on Dec. 23.

Dec. 25  Want to spend Christmas with others?  The Ladle will host their annual Christmas dinner.  Reservation is required and can be done any Monday during the soup Kitchen hours. Learn more about the Ladle.

Dec. 31 Bridgetown Taphouse will be open normal hours on  New Years Eve but at 7 p.m. the party will begin.  Once the party starts a cover charge will be charged that will included in live music and a champagne toast at midnight. Cost: $ 10.00
