Economy Borough is continuing its search for a new secretary despite receiving several applications.
Pat Skonieczny said the borough received about 15 resumes to fill the vacant position, but none of the applicants stood out.
Skonieczny questioned what was advertised and suggested expanding the advertisement to a wider area, which council approved.
The borough has been operating without a secretary since January, when council voted to remove longtime secretary Sue Bloom from the position during its reorganization meeting.
In other business, council appointed residents Roger Kowal and Audrey Mutschler to the planning commission, bringing the board to nine members. Kowal is a school board member and Mutschler previously served on borough council.
Councilman Larry Googins voted against the planning commission appointments, explaining that he doesn't believe the borough needs so many on the board. He said nearby Cranberry Township, for example, only has a five-member board.
