
Fetkovich, who serves on the recreation committee, said some matching funds are available if the grant is awarded. The deadline to apply is in April.
Economy Manager Randy Kunkle said the borough developed a master plan years ago that addressed the municipal park and the borough's other two parks.
Residents provided input to help develop the plans, which included hiking, biking and nature trails, an overlook, a deck hockey area, and more at the municipal park. Original costs were more than $1 million, but officials said those plans can be scaled back.
Council is supporting the recreation board in seeking grant funding for the
municipal park.
“I’m all for it,” said Council President RJ Burns. “I would like to see it move forward.”
