Baden Volunteer Fire Department is recruiting for the Baden Jr Firefighter Program.
Eric Dunmyer, firefighter for Baden VFD, invites all youth to learn the fundamentals of firefighting, and become part of a brotherhood. For ages 14-21, Firematics are issued bunker gear, pagers, and firefighting educational material. They will participate in both firematic and department training. After some training, they get to respond to real fire calls on fire apparatus.
They meet 2-3 times a month but can come down for extra training and most department functions.
"It's a really great program and I think it has a lot to offer for youth in the Ambridge area, it's not restricted to Baden residents " shared Dunmyer. "The main issue is that we are having a hard time getting participants and if we can't get more soon then we may have to end the program."
