WHEREAS, the Ambridge Borough Council and Mayor desire to recognize long-time business establishments within Ambridge who have been a great asset to the community by adding to the exceptional quality of life through superior services and products offered, and;
WHEREAS, the Aloe family has been a multi-generation business here in Ambridge, starting back in the 1940’s through the work of Salvatore and Giuseppina Aloe who were the proprietors of Aloe’s Market at 802 Duss Avenue, and;
WHEREAS, Salvatore and Giuesppina’s son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Costanza Aloe, ventured into small business, after a career in the local steel mills, they soon created a fish market and an Italian bakery before opening what would become a renowned pizzeria in 1958, and;
WHEREAS, sixty years ago this year, at a time when most pizza was made at home, Frank responded to an advertisement placed by a New York pizza equipment company in an Italian newspaper, offering pizza-making training and equipment for $600. With this investment Frank created a new future for his family; he traveled to New York, took the training, and used the supplied oven, preparation table and pizza pans to establish his new business, Frank's Pizzeria. That business, and its cheese-under-the-sauce pizza, was a success, and;
WHEREAS, Frank’s Pizza continues to be a favorite choice within Ambridge that is still family-operated today after the passing of Frank in 2010, by his wife Costanza, four children, eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, and;
WHEREAS, the unique story of Frank’s Pizza is celebrating sixty years of hard-work, commitment, community, and family that has truly added to making Ambridge a special place to live, work and eat.
THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE AMBRIDGE BOROUGH COUNCIL AND MAYOR that in honor of the Aloe Family and Frank’s Pizza’s longstanding success and support to the community, and for sixty years of business in Ambridge, that APRIL 10, 2018, BE DECLARED FRANK’S PIZZA DAY IN AMBRIDGE, PENNSYLVANIA.
