Old Economy Village in Ambridge will provide a free historic lecture at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13 in the Visitor Center.
Historian Joe White will discuss the circumstances surrounding Dr. Karl Arndt borrowing a large number of records from the Harmonist Society and Old Economy and their not being returned until Dr. Arndt’s death in 1951.

White will explore the ramifications of Arndt’s actions and resulting challenges of writing Harmonist History.
Joe White taught British history and the history of social movements at the University of Pittsburgh for many years. He is currently writing a new history of the Harmonist Society and has published extensively in the journal “Communal Studies.”
