The flag had a broken string that caused the flag to get stuck and knotted.
Ricki Paul said they contacted different companies with bucket trucks and fire departments to come up to the Harmony business on Route 989, but they were unsuccessful.
The flag was more than 70 feet high, twice as high as a telephone pole.
Mark Dunn, a Harmony resident and bartender, went to the Baden fire chief for help.
Today, the Baden Volunteer Fire Department came up and changed out the flag using their aerial truck Tower 47.
Ricki Paul said she was so relieved to have it completed and thankful that the fire department did not hesitate to come up and take care of the flag.
Ricki and Greg Paul both have fathers that served. Ricki's father, Richard R. Carothers, was private first class in World War II. Greg's father, Jacque Paul, was military police in War World II and was in the Korean War.
